Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Musem
Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum is located in an atmospheric and historic RAF airfield and contains a beautifully restored Spitfire MK XVI and a Hurricane IIC.
The spitfire is one of the few remaining with a wartime record and was initially used to hit rail and road targets in Germany and Northern Holland.

Look out for the four crosses painted on the side, which show the number of German planes it shot down in combat, with a different pilot each time!
The Hurricane was used towards the end of the war, but is a great example of its kind and 14,000 of these were manufactured during the second world war.
There is also plenty of memorabilia, both civil and military, mainly from the period 1939 to 1945 and is well worth seeing. You should probably allow at least an hour to take in everything and you may need longer.
The staff are friendly, approachable and happy to answer any questions the kids (or the big ones!) may have.
There's ample free parking for both cars and coaches. We sell a range of souvenirs, model kits and books in our shop, open during the same hours as the Museum. The Merlin cafe, adjoining the Museum, with views across the airfield.
