Woodhorn Northumberland Museum and Archives
You’ll be surprised how much there is to see at Woodhorn. Allow yourself a couple of hours for a visit - more if there's a special event taking place.

Open 5 days a week all year round and with a varied exhibitions and events programme, you will want to come back time and time again.

It’s great for all ages and there’s always something special for the younger generation during the school holidays (when it’s open on Mondays and Tuesdays too!).

It began its life as a museum in 1989 and following major redevelopment, reopened in October 2006. Today, the yellow Ashington brick buildings have protected, listed status. The site is recognised as a Scheduled Ancient Monument and it is the best surviving example of a late 19th/early 20th century colliery in the North East tradition.

  •     Admission to Woodhorn is FREE!
  •     Occasionally some extra special exhibitions may have charges. Details will be on the What's On page.
  •     All day parking costs £3.50
  •     Bicycle racks are available for cyclists but please bring your own lock.
