Description
TOYS of YESTERYEAR is a fantastic collection of Vintage Toys from around the turn of the century (1900) to the mid 1970's. It takes you back to your childhood days and helps you to re-live your childhood memories. We have over 6000 toys on display. Some of them can be seen working. These working models include Meccano, Hornby, Steiff, Tri-ang, plus an assortment of Tinplate clockwork & battery operated toys.
We cater for School Parties and highlight the requirements of KS1/2 . We have a Demonstration table where we show the children the differences between old & new toys, how they work and what materials they are made from. In addition to an element of learning, we try to make their visit as much fun as we can.
Our largest exhibit is a full size model of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This can be seen on our Website Home Page.
In addition to the Museum, we have a large Toyshop with new toys & old.
