St Andrews Castle
On a headland to the north of St Andrews stand the ruins of the city’s castle, the main residence of the bishops and archbishops of St Andrews – the focal point of the Church in Medieval Scotland.  

Today, a siege mine and counter-mine can be explored, and the ‘bottle dungeon’ viewed. Visitor centre with exhibition. The shop features a range of local products made in Fife.

Accessibility
STB Category 3 - Wheelchair access is available through the visitor centre - which includes a display with multi-sensory aspects for visitors with visual impairments - and round the ground floor of the castle. There is no access to the bottle dungeon, mines or upper floors of the castle for visitors using wheelchairs or with limited mobility.

The castle grounds are mainly grass and suitable for wheelchairs. A cement path from the visitor centre to the castle allows visitors using wheelchairs to get to the castle easily.

Parking is available on adjacent busy street.
