Constructed in the Neolithic period, it has long been surrounded by legends and bizarre stories, including one that it was a refuge for lepers. BEFORE YOU GO Parking: Parking is available adjacent to the site. Dogs: Dogs on leads are welcome. PLAN A GREAT DAY OUT Coaley Peak is an excellent spot to enjoy a picnic, with plenty of tables and seating. Take a leisurely stroll around the Woodland Trust's beech wood, or walk a mile down the Cotswold Way to visit Uley Long Barrow, another fine example of a Neolithic chambered mound.
