Description
The Leasowes is listed Grade 1 on English Heritage's Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England. Covering 58 hectares, including Halesowen Golf Club, it consists of steeply wooded hillsides, rolling grasslands, small lakes, and streams incising their way through two narrow valleys. The land has always been utilised and tamed but not subdued. It is this little bit of wilderness in a heavily industrialised and busy area, which has made the Leasowes a much used and loved place for informal recreation, the local community jealously guarding it and its wildlife. The aim of these pages is to provide information about the work the wardens will be carrying out on the park, forthcoming activities, events and wildlife observation |
