Description
Ilfracombe Aquarium is an award-winning, all-weather, educational attraction located in the Old Lifeboat House alongside Ilfracombe’s picturesque and historic harbour. The town is found on the dramatic North Devon coast 20 minutes drive from Barnstaple, set amongst the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The aquarium provides a fascinating insight into the wonders of the aquatic world found locally around North Devon. Its beautiful exhibits are carefully recreated natural habitats, providing home to over 75 species, some of which for many visitors, have never been seen before. Visitors follow a unique zoned journey from the the SOURCE of an Exmoor stream, down RIVER, to an ESTUARY, local ROCKPOOL, HARBOUR, COAST and out to LUNDY and it’s unique marine reserve. Free quiz trails, extensive interpretation, presentations, experienced fish keeper guides - offering feeding demonstrations and interactive opportunities, are available throughout the day.
Additional facilities for your benefit, include the The Pier Cafe, where a wide variety of delicious, sensibly priced, quality products, are available to enjoy in our sheltered, outside seating area sun trap or within our (new for 2011) Rocket House Gallery building.

We are wheelchair friendly throughout, cater for groups, birthday parties and the venue is also for hire.
