Mirehouse
Mirehouse, near Keswick, is a family run historic house attraction open to visitors to enjoy its strong literary connections, live piano music and children's activities.

The gardens stretch from Dodd Wood to Bassenthwaite Lake and include woodland playgrounds, a heather maze, a rhododendron tunnel and poetry walk for children and grown ups alike to enjoy on a full day out in all weathers.

Set in the heart of the North Lake District, three miles from Keswick, the beautiful, natural gardens at Mirehouse offer stunning views of the dramatic Lakeland landscape they are set in. Enjoy the tranquility of the walled Bee Garden, stroll in quiet contemplation along the Poetry Walk or sit by the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake.

The house has many unique collections: on a wet day out (or otherwise), explore the strong literary connections Mirehouse has had over the years to Tennyson, Edward Fitzgerald, Thomas Carlyle and William Wordsworth in the relaxed atmosphere of a family home.

The Old Sawmill Tearoom specialises in excellent Cumbrian cooking including cumberland sausage, homemade cakes and puddings and Farrers coffees.
