Come and enjoy a taste of country life in the city. Freightliners Farm, in the heart of Islington, provides an exciting opportunity for you to experience a real working farm in action.
The Farm is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday. On Monday, the farm is closed except on Bank Holidays. During the Christmas period, the farm is closed for the week.
Freightliners is a small farm in an urban setting providing the opportunity for local individuals and groups to learn from and interact with the environment and each other through animal care, horticulture and sustainable practices. It's purpose is to provide an educational and recreational recourse for the community, promoting social welfare and quality of life through a collaborative and inclusive community project.
Freightliners Farm was founded on wasteland behind Kings Cross station in London in 1973. Originally the animals were housed in railway goods vans, hence the name. The Farm moved to its present site in 1978 and new purpose built farm buildings were erected in 1988
The animal village is the petting area at the farm.
Animals like rabbits, chickens and a goat are living in their painted
Wendy houses. Children will have the opportunity to not only stroke the
animals. The Animal Village was sponsored by Lottery Grants for Local
Groups Awards for All and Community Investors Development Agency
Children Fund Local Network.
