Description
he interactive displays in the galleries are designed for fun while
encouraing some thoughts on how we can get enough food, energy and a
place to live, without destroying the planet for future generations
(known as Sustainable Development).
In Gallery 1, spin boards and push buttons to calculate your
environmental footprint, and see if your lifestyle makes too many
demands on the planet. Puff and pump up the renewable energies to
reduce carbon emissions.
Investigate the importance of preserving as wide a range of wildlife
as possible in Gallery 2 by using your skills to find out which animals
live in different habitats, and see what things you could do to help
wildlife where you live.
There is an amazing ‘Colour in Nature’ display from The Ulster Museum,
which has several hundred brightly coloured and fantastically
camouflaged specimens from all over the world, including a bird that
looks like a tree, and a butterfly that looks like a leaf.
Also on display is some of the latest green technology that reduces
the effect of global warming by using renewable resources. See how we
save money, and help save the planet by heating the building with wood
pellets. Come and see what you can do too.
