If you’re planning to take your holidays in the Highlands then you will be delighted that Aviemore and CairnGorm Mountain is not a winter only destination. Yes, the area thrives under a foot of snow, but there is plenty to keep you entertained during the rest of the year too.
One of the highlights when you visit here is to go walking in the area. The Walk at the Top and the Guided Northern Corries Walk typically start in May and are accompanied by an experienced guide.
They help you to enjoy the fresh mountain air while taking in the incredible scenery, and give you the full benefit of all their local stories. To check the 3 day mountain weather forecast click here.
If walking isn’t your thing then you can take the mountain railway, which has become one of the area’s leading visitor attractions in its own right. Visitors can travel in comfort and safety for 2km from the Base Station at car park level to the Ptarmigan Top Station.
CairnGorm Mountain is home to Scotland’s only funicular railway. This is a unique visitor experience that allows people of all abilities to reach the Top Station where the Ptarmigan Restaurant is located with panoramic views from over 3,500ft. There is also a viewing terrace, exhibition, shop and the highest post box in the British isles. In order to protect the plateau outwith our snowsports operation, funicular passengers are not permitted to exit the top station to go onto the mountain unless they are booked on a guided walk or a guided mountain bike descent.
Please note that all Funicular Railway tickets bought online
should be collected from the Ticket Office and children aged 5 and under
travel for free.
