Description
The Museum of Archaeology at the Old Fulling Mill in Durham City is one of the most photographed buildings in the North East: scenically located below Durham Cathedral on the banks of the River Wear.

Although the origins of the museum can be traced back to 1833, it was not until the mid 1970s that the Fulling Mill took on its present role as a home for Durham University’s archaeological collections.

The Museum houses a fascinating range of archaeological material, mostly from North East England, but also from Central Europe, Ancient Greece and Rome.
