Description
Over half a million specimens, natural history literature and data, extending back over three centuries are housed in this fascinating museum. It was the creation of the Victorian ornithologist Edward Booth (1840-1890) who built it in the garden of his house in 1874, to house his collection of stuffed British birds. Each bird is an outstanding example of taxidermy, presented in wonderful recreations of natural habitats. Though the birds are still the centrepiece in this charming and picturesque building, they now share it with many other specimens from the natural world. |
